International Training Course in Florence
Pixel organizes the international course on Education and New Technologies. The course aims to promote an effective use of technology in teaching and learning.
The objective of the course is to develop teachers' skills in using new technologies for an innovative and effective teaching.
TARGET GROUPS AND SKILLS
The international course on Education and New Technologies is addressed to school teachers, headmasters, counsellors in education, researchers in education.
The participants will acquire the skills to:
- identify and select innovative and effective teaching sources,
- use efficiently new technologies to support and integrate classroom-based teaching,
- plan and create their own e-learning based teaching materials
The skills acquired will allow the participants to integrate traditional classroom lessons with e-learning based materials, to make classroom based lessons more involving and interactive, be always updated with the information about new teaching and learning methodologies and strategies.
PROGRAMME
Module 1) Introduction to the use of New Technologies and Multimedia for education
- Definitions and different solutions
- Change of teachers’ roles and new models of knowledge sharing
- Traditional and "virtual" roles of teachers and tutors
- Technologies to support for traditional teaching
- Potentials of blended learning approches
Practical Activities on Image Processing including analysis and use of relevant software
Module 2) Identification of innovative teaching sources
- Identifying educational goals
- Personal needs analysis
- Researching teaching sources on the Internet
- Assessment of elearning and multimedia based teaching materials
- Comparative analysis
- Learning Communities
- Social media
- Mobile learning
Practical Activities on the implementation and use of social media and learning communities
Module 3) Using innovative multimedia and e-learning based sources in classroom based teaching
- Structure and main characteristics of the blended learning model
- Elements for planning blended learning based courses
- Using new technologies in classroom based courses
- Integrating e-learning and multimedia based material in frontal lessons
Practical Activities on video editing and sound management including analysis and use of relevant software
Module 4) Using innovative multimedia and e-learning based sources for online teaching
- Blended learning and e-learning
- Temporal dimension in e-learning and multimedia based environments
- Using e-learning and multimedia based sources for online learning
- Assessment and evaluation of competences in the framework of e-learning based approaches
Practical Activities on virtual reality applications including analysis and use of relevant software
Module 5) Creation of e-learning and multimedia based teaching sources
- Structure of an e-learning platform for art teaching and learning
- Designing the course
- Software for the production of e-learning and multimedia based contents
- Creating e-learning and multimedia based contents for education (text, images, videos, sounds, animation, authoring etc.)
- Choice and implementation of the interface
- Hypertext and multimedia for the creation of art teaching contents
- Personalization of the educational pathway
- Psychological, relational and representational competences
Practical Activities on using and implementing materials on Moodle
Module 6) Practical activity for the development of e-learning and multimedia based teaching sources
- Project work carried out in groups with the support of the tutor. Every work group will produce an e-learning and multimedia based module.
- Assessment and final evaluation
METHODOLOGY
The approach used in the Education and New Technologies course is highly practical focusing on a learning-by-doing approach and group based activities in an international cooperative environment.
A hands-on simulation is carried out for each topic in focus. The objective of the practical activities is the selection of ready-to-use teaching sources the participants will be able to use with their students, blended learning based teaching simulations, development of personalized e-learning and multimedia based materials.
At the end of the course, every work group will have produced an e-learning and multimedia based modules and contents they will be able to use with their students once back at school.
ORGANIZATION
The Education and New Technologies course programme is organized in 6 days, Monday to Saturday, 5 hours a day. Participants should arrive to Florence on Sunday and depart the following Sunday.
The classroom based programme is integrated with cultural activities such as a guided walking tour of Florence city and social dinner. Detailed information will be provided about optional opportunities for cultural visits in Tuscany.
CERTIFICATIONS
Two certificates will be issued at the end of the Education and New Technologies course.
- A Participation Certificate providing detailed information about the programme carried out as well as the assessment of results achieved during the course.
- A Europass Mobility Certificate issued by the National Agencies for the Erasmus+ Programme certifying the skills and competences acquired.
LANGUAGE
The language used in the Education and New Technologies course is English.

The Education and New Technologies course is held at Pixel site, in Florence (Italy).

Optional accommodation and subsistence packages are available on request.
