With more than 40,000 students and 4,000 staff, DU is a leading center for higher education, research, and innovation in the region. Its main campus, located on the banks of the Tigris River, hosts 17 faculties, 4 schools, 12 vocational schools, 4 graduate schools, 37 research and application centers, a state conservatory, technopark, and modern student facilities.

DU also operates a 1,500-bed research and training hospital, the largest health center in the region, serving thousands of patients from across Türkiye. The university has a strong international profile, with over 340 institutional partnerships worldwide. Since 2004, the Office of International Relations has supported extensive mobility opportunities, enabling over 1,000 staff and students to participate in Erasmus+ exchanges and fostering long-term institutional cooperation.

DU is committed to inclusion and accessibility. The Research and Application Center for Disabled People has won the “Barrier-Free Universities Award” from the Turkish Council of Higher Education, offering psychosocial support, training, and adapted educational services. The university emphasizes multiculturalism, diversity, and social responsibility, positioning itself as a “social laboratory” for addressing the challenges of the 21st century through teaching, research, and community engagement.
