Description

The University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), founded in 1968 as the University of Bilbao and officially established under its current name in 1980, is the leading public university in the Basque Country. With campuses in Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, and Álava, it serves as a hub for higher education and research in the region. Its mission is to deliver high-quality education rooted in knowledge, innovation, inclusion, and the promotion of Basque language and culture. UPV/EHU educates over 57,000 students and employs more than 7,500 staff members, including a significant number of researchers. The university offers 67 undergraduate degrees, 103 master's programs, and 71 doctoral programs. It is responsible for approximately 70% of the research output in the Basque Country.
