The European project entitled Off Book was funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, KA2 - Strategic Partnership for school education. The Off Book European project has been written and coordinated by Pixel in cooperation with the project applicant University of Klaipeda (Lithuania) as well as with the scientific coordinator the University of Siena (Italy). The Off Book European project is aimed at improving secondary school teachers' intercultural competences and promoting the use of new educational methods to make school environment less “judgemental” and more inclusive, thus promoting non-discrimination and reducing early school leaving.

Project Title
Improving secondary school teachers intercultural competences and promoting the use of new educational methods to make school environment more inclusive
Context
The school system in many European countries is based on a judgmental approach, with teachers evaluating students’ performances on acquired knowledge. As a consequence the school rejects instead of including, and students with a “poor” performance drop out.
Objectives
The aim of the OFF-Book project is to promote school inclusiveness and the mutual understanding among different cultures as a strategic aim to contribute to the prevention of early school leaving. The innovative element of the project is the introduction of education through performing arts and drama theatre in particular without applying any judgmental approach.

- A guideline for teachers on performing arts to promote integration at school
- A video tutorial for tackling early school leaving through theatrical laboratories
