Project Title

Promotion of plant breeding and biotechnology education in Africa, the Middle East and Europe

Context

Agriculture activity is an important sector in major developing countries including Kenya, Ethiopia, and Palestine. In these three countries, Agriculture sector contributed to 37.57%, 20% and 7% of GDP and employed 67%, 40%, and 7% of total employment, respectively. Although of its important, agriculture in Mediterranean and African regions is suffering many problems includes climate change which hinder it to contribute significantly to the increased demand for food and increased number of population in these countries.

Objectives

 - Involving Palestinian and African HEI's in Research Movement related to Plant Breeding and Biotechnology in Europe;
- Encouraging both Palestinian and African researchers and academics to interests related to the concept, domains, tools and digital technology of the Plant breeding and Biotechnology).

Activities

 The project is designed to implement four main work packages aiming to improve the skills and competence levels of 12 students in plant breeding and biotechnology and strengthening the capacity of 24 academic staff in teaching and research activities from African and Palestinian universities. Additionally, to improving agricultural technologies for better productivity, sustainability, environmental safety by developing and upgrading 6 research center and laboratories in the HEIs,
